COVID-19 Update

Cancellation of the EEA2020 Conference

It is with great sadness that we must formally announce the cancellation of the EEA2020 Conference. I’m sure that this will not come as a surprise, given the rapidly developing situation regarding COVID-19 outbreak. EEA has a strong interest and moral responsibility to protect the health of our members and it is very clear that no other option was practical.

The EEA are pleased to announce the 2021 Conference will be held on Tuesday 29 June to Thursday 1 July at Wellington’s TSB/Shed 6 Convention Centre, so be sure to add these dates into your diary. We are currently working on options of transferring paper submissions, sponsorship packages and exhibition and delegate bookings to 2021, for those who have opted to do so.

We appreciate your patience while we deal with this unprecedented environment we find ourselves working in.

‘Engineering, Technology and Innovation’ - in a Low Carbon Environment

Kia ora koutou

New Zealand has committed to a #zerocarbon future and our industry has the opportunity to lead the way on delivering New Zealand’s Paris Agreement promise. As a hub for the electricity supply sector, the EEA is bringing together thought leaders from across the energy industry in its EEA2020 Conference to showcase future thinking on this highly relevant topic.

Our theme; ‘Engineering, Technology and Innovation - In a Low Carbon Environment’ is set to answer some of the great challenges of ‘now’ and ‘the future‘ for us all.

New Zealand is on a journey to close the gap between the rhetoric of climate change and the reality of world leading responses. We are moving away from reliance on fossil fuels and significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions to become a low carbon, smart energy nation.

What impact will these issues have on our industry? How can we grow collective knowledge and understanding of engineering, technology, innovation, risks and solutions?  How can we help our industry and future engineering and safety leaders play a role as innovators, influencers and change makers?

Join us at the EEA2020 Conference to debate possible answers to these questions.

The conference is the power industry’s largest collaborative forum in New Zealand, focused on delivering clarity on complex issues, practical support and solutions, and market intelligence to industry stakeholders. It also provides an excellent networking opportunity, especially in this time of change.

The Conference programme will deliver thought provoking keynote presentations and technical papers focused on the most relevant issues in our industry. Interactive panel discussions will deliver industry-changing insights making EEA2020 a ‘must do’ for your professional development calendar.

The event also includes a Trade Exhibition, all in one hall to maximise discussions between delegates and exhibitors. It is a great opportunity for businesses from around the world to showcase technology and services, people and products, and for delegates to get ‘hands on’ with the solutions you need.

Put the dates in your diary, 7 to 9 July and follow our EEA2020 Conference on the EEA LinkedIn page. I look forward to seeing you in Wellington.

Noho ora mai.
