He trained and worked as a professional engineer prior to returning to the family business in 1990. James and his wife Vicki also own their own kiwifruit orchard.<\/p>\n<p>Kiwifruit and avocado growers across the Bay of Plenty have relied on Trevelyan\u2019s to provide world-class packing and fruit storage facilities for nearly 40 years. The business has a reputation as a strong, independent, family-run business. Trevelyan\u2019s operates four export packhouses and one local market packhouse and\u00a033 state-of-the-art coolstores on a 20ha site at No.1 Rd, Te Puke. Employing up to 1600 people at the height of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Like many other kiwifruit businesses in New Zealand Trevelyan\u2019s felt the pain of the devastating incursion of PSA-V in late 2010 and continue to live with it today. The business has used a process of continuous improvement to see it through those tough years. The business has a culture of displaying all data, both good and bad, so collectively it can be put right or celebrated.<\/p>\n<p>The last four years have seen Trevelyan\u2019s reporting their business performance against the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework.
